Dreamy; the perfect word to describe this maternity session at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens! Spring had sprung, and it was the perfect opportunity to capture memories of a beautiful mommy-to-be and her family. In Alabama, Spring weather is fleeting. It’s often that we experience short-lived peeks of Spring while Winter lingers. Once the Spring weather becomes more consistent, we typically enjoy the blissful weather for two to three weeks before the overwhelming heat of what will soon be summer hits.
During this maternity session, the weather was perfect. The botanical gardens were absolutely magical! I was blown away by the crisp, green plants available to capture in the background of pictures. To make things even more dreamy, this particular weekend, the Birmingham Botanical Gardens was hosting a wedding. This meant gorgeously strung lights would grace photos of this family. There were several locations within the Gardens to take photos. The options were endless! We used staircases, sidewalks, platforms, and reflecting ponds in the pictures we made. Beautiful wrought-iron railings and lovely, wooden benches gave even more character to the photos.
Something we photographers often have a chance to do is build a client closet. Client closets are exactly what they sound like, a closet of clothing just for my clients! In this photo session, both the beautiful mommy-to-be and her little girl used items from my client closet. All expectant mothers glow! They are beautiful beyond words. Add a breathtaking dress and you have perfection! This maternity dress is from Etsy. Her little girl wore a precious Dollcake dress. Dollcake dresses are unique in that they only make a certain style once. When the style sells out, they won’t make them again! I was so excited to get my hands on this one for gorgeous maternity sessions like this!
